Ken first came to the DC area while serving in the Army. Having spent two years stationed in Germany, he was transferred here to travel on President George Bush’s advance team, establishing secure communications for the president.
After six years Ken was honorably discharged from the Army. He then enrolled in George Mason University and graduated with a BS in finance.
For the next 12 years, Ken worked for financial institutions, including Citibank, Riggs Bank, and Wachovia. This experience in wealth management and commercial real estate helped Ken develop a deep understanding of real estate, lending, and finance.
As vice president of First Horizon Bank’s commercial real estate group, Ken managed a $250 million portfolio of commercial loan commitments to real estate investment trusts (REITs) and local real estate developers.
While he enjoyed this line of work, Ken realized that his interest in real estate transcended evaluating construction loans and mortgages and helping people with the financial aspects of buying property—he wanted to guide people throughout the entire real estate process, from evaluating properties and finance options through settlement.
Currently Ken is a candidate for a MS in real estate at Johns Hopkins University. He’s also becoming an expert in green habitats, creating homes that are more sustainable and conserve water and energy. Not only do green houses help the environment, but they also can be great financial investments.
Ken’s expertise in banking, brokerage, and wealth management helps Brandon Green & Associates’ clients incorporate real estate, whether a home or investment, into their financial portfolio.
Ken’s experience with real estate investing also covers residential properties. Having already renovated a home in Arlington, VA, he currently owns a rental property in Ohio. And with his commercial real estate and lending experience, he is an expert in a variety of ways to use leverage to increase the return on an investment.
In addition to being a licensed real estate agent, Ken is a certified yoga instructor. Having practiced yoga for 12 years, he now leads a class in kundalini yoga on Sunday mornings at The Sports Club/LA.
Ken also is active in a barbershop quartet. His group, Bachelor Party, won the award for best quartet in the Southern Division of the Mid-Atlantic District of the Barbershop Harmony Society. He is also a member of the award-winning Alexandria Harmonizers, a barbershop chorus that has entertained the DC metro area for more than 50 years.
