In my opinion, that is going to be the next big boom in real estate. Ok, after the bust drops home values in halve, the next opportunity will be building and rehabbing green properties. I live in Chicago and you can see it happening already. The Mayor has an initiative to make Chicago the Greenest city in the world...that is his goal and he seems very determined to do that. Nevertheless, they are putting together special tax breaks, grants, and loans for developers and real estate investors that are interested in pushing forward with the green frenzy! Rising fuel cost, coupled with superior services found inside the city, is really creating a draw. You also have to think about the social science of people moving back into the city. What better way to tell your folks that you are diffrent from them buy moving back into the trendy city. I completely agree that we are seeing a influx in people coming back into the city.
